2022 G.D. Vajra Langhe Nebbiolo

G.D. Vajra was established in 1972 and named after Aldo Vajra's father, Giuseppe Domenico Vajra. A traditionalist, Aldo adheres to old style winemaking methods, though blends these with new techniques, such as temperature-controlled fermentation, to produce supremely elegant wines.
Sourced from the estates younger vines in Barolo, Novello, Sinio and Bricco Bertone, vinification is long and extremely gentle in order to retain lift and tension in this wine. Ageing is mostly carried out in stainless steel vats.
Red to dark red core with black toned edges and a light red hue. Perfumed rose petal like scents mix with red cherry, raspberry, red liquorice and fresh herb notes. Some crushed rock and subtle spicy tobacco aromas are also evident. Rich, juicy red to dark raspberry, red liquorice and red cherry fruits boast outstanding intensity and are framed by stern tannins and bright, energetic acidity which imparts a crunchy, muscular like feel. Crushed rock, infusions of Mediterranean herbs, light tobacco and spice elements lie underneath. There’s a delicate rustic earthy quality to the long, tense yet juicy finish.
