Amply fleshed with dark to black fruits and a spicy, generously endowed finish.

Semi translucent dark red colour with black shaded edges and a red to dark red hue. Spicy black cherry and anise aromas mix with scorched earth, dried herb and toasty cedar notes. Rich plum, aniseed and dark to black cherry fruits carry medium body weight and ample flesh across the palate. Smoky cedar, earth and spicy dried herb elements the underbelly. Polished tannins with a spicy, generously endowed finish.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
Alc. 13%

Other Reviews….
Interesting aromas of flint, graphite, dried strawberries and dark cherries that follow through to a medium body with firm tannins and a fresh and linear finish. A little reserved now, but will open nicely with time. Try after 2026. Screw cap.

Fruit is from the Southern Valleys. Mostly from Yarrum vineyard and smaller parcels from Omaka Valley. Destemmed berries go into open-top fermenters with small proportions of whole-bunch inclusion. Matured in French oak barriques, 30% new, for 11 months. Black plum, Bing cherries and a hint of boysenberry. Tonka bean, cracked peppercorns and tree bark. Quite a tactile wine; the pleasure is in the finesse of tannins and fine lines of acidity. Black cherries bloom out in the middle palate, with some stone fruit, too. Oak is savoury and the wine finishes with a slight peppery, floral freshness. Drink by 2030.
