2022 Hahndorf Hill White Mischief Gruner Veltliner

Brilliant very pale straw colour with a very faint tinge of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. Aromas of pear, red apple and lime fill the nostrils followed by some passionfruit and light spice notes. Juicy pear and red apple fruits flood the mouth and show plenty of textural volume. Tropical fruit, mango, infusions of fresh herbs and delicate minerals ensue. Finishes dry with energetic acidity extending into a long moreish aftertaste.

A mid-March harvest (three weeks later than average) produced exceptional fruit. Hand picked, free-run juice separately fermented, pressings held and back blended, the amount determined by tasting. Tropical fruits play a role in the complex, gently honeyed flavours, with juicy acidity just when and where it's needed. Drink by 2032.
