2022 Heathcote Estate Primal Preservative Free Shiraz

Certified organic and preservative free. Impenetrable inky black dark purple in colour with a very deep dark purple black hue. Freshly crushed ripe blueberry and liquorice aromas are interwoven with inky earth, graphite and pepper notes. Medium bodied, youthful blueberry, blackberry and liquorice fruits are underpinned by bright acidity and dry chalky tannins. Inky earth and pepper elements are also present. There’s a crunchy feel to the brightly fruited aftertaste.

The colour of this. The vibrance of youth is on full display here, all purple, dark and glowing, and it sets the tone for the wine to come. Woodsy spice, sweet plums, a bit of crunch, a lot of fresh fruit. More-ish plus plus. Sandalwood notes here too. Clove-like inflections. A positive dryness to the finish. But all the while, eager fruit. One sip and you just want to keep on drinking this. It’s lovely. Drink 2022-2026.
