2022 Heirloom Vineyards Barossa Shiraz

Magnificent super saturated inky black in colour with an equally deep dark purple black hue. Heady scents of freshly crushed ripe blackberry, liquorice and dark plum waft out of the glass trailed by some vanillin cedar, fennel, faint mocha and pepper notes. Rich and opulent yet fresh, the weighty palate is drenched in lush blackberry, liquorice and dark plum fruits. Boasting plenty of power notions of vanillin cedar, fennel, traces of dark chocolate and peppered dried herbs are also present. Lush yet slightly muscular feel with a sturdy tannin framework. Finishes youthfully energetic, succulent and long.

The grapes used here were sourced from the team’s top Barossa Shiraz vineyard. Sorting by the bunch, wild yeasts in an open fermenter, basket pressing and then time in French oak barriques. Deep crimson colour, this is a generous style of red with good extraction. Flavour by the truckload, this is dense, yet concentrated and balanced. The flavours move through coffee beans, mocha, blueberries, cassis, chocolate and blackberries. Silky tannins and excellent length, this is richly flavoured from start to finish. Delicious drinking and should remain so for the next eight to twelve years. Love it. Drink 2024-2036.
