2022 Juniper Three Fields Cabernet Sauvignon

Dense midnight black colour with a deep vibrant dark red black tinged hue. Sailing out of the glass are aromas of blackcurrant infused with mulberry, black olive, tobacco and hints of spicy capsicum. Refined and mid weighted, the palate is layered with blackcurrant and mulberry fruits which meld into a cigar box, earthy black olive and spicy herb laced back drop. A sturdy tannin structure firms up the mid length finish.

An elegant, refined and lovely wine. Brimming with all the good regional cabernet flavours of mulberries and cassis, spiced boysenberries, a dusting of cocoa and just the right amount of leafy/herbal freshness. Sure, there’s cedary oak in the mix (the wine’s aged 14 months in French barriques, 30% new), but the fruit has sucked it up. Fuller bodied, the tannins are textural, almost grainy and ripe, and the finish lingers. Impressive. Drink by 2036.
