2022 Kilikanoon Mort’s Reserve Watervale Riesling

Brilliant water like colour with subtle highlights of green around the edges. Lime, green apple and lemon aromas sail out of the glass complimented by orange rind, wet steel, delicate kerosene and mineral notes. Tense and steely structured the palate has a tight core of lemon and lime fruit which melds into a wet steel and flinty mineral back drop. Finishes dry and crisp with a long taut, linear conclusion.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.

The top of the tree, Mort's riesling. It's a scintillating, intense and compact expression of the Clare classic style. Lots of energy here. Lime and lemon to the fore, with just-ripe green apple, fennel and a touch of blackcurrant between the bouquet and palate. Sleek in texture, very long and fine to finish. Maybe missing a little mid-palate stuffing ... racy, anyway, with some powdery pucker in tow and great texture. Feels polished, primped and preened. Drink by 2040.
