2022 Kyneton Ridge Heathcote Shiraz

Rich and succulent with engulfing fruit and a finish that’s long and vibrant.

Matured for 9 months in French & American oak barriques, 25% new. Impenetrable inky black heart with a very deep dark purple black hue. Wafting through the nostrils are aromas of freshly crushed blackberries, liquorice, dark plum and black cherries which are complimented by some vanillin oak, fennel and peppered herb notes. Rich and succulent, engulfing the mouth are flavours of blackberry juice, liquorice, dark plum and ripe blueberry which are underpinned by fresh acidity and sturdy yet polished tannins. Spicy vanillin oak, fennel and pepper elements also chime in. Excellent power and concentration with a finish that’s long, juicy and vibrant.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

This comes out a black-purple hue; a tooth-staining wine with loads of tannins and plenty of very ripe fruit. All black plums, licorice, star anise, and the ripeness across the full-bodied palate is molasses-like. Yet there’s punchy acidity, and it maintains a freshness, which is a good thing. Drink by 2032.
