2022 Murdoch Hill Chardonnay
Wild barrel fermented and matured in both puncheons and barriques (20% new) for a period of 10 months. Brilliant pale straw colour with highlights of green around the edges and a watery hue. Aromas of nectarine and grapefruit are followed by hints of biscuity oak, citrus and gun flint. On the palate fleshy pear and nectarine fruits overlay a delicate dried honey, biscuit, cashew and flinty mineral back drop. Brisk acidity leads in to a fresh, elegant, mineral laced finish.
Drink over the next 4-5 years

Original plantings from 1989. Planted on a variety of landscape. Barrel fermented.
Wow kinda chardy. Tightly wound but with juiciness. Almost on medium weight. Skittish acidity keeping things fresh, saline, briny, flinty notes gently there, a lot of lovely cashew and almond savouriness and then you notice, green apple, tart lime, anise. It’s crystalline and bright. It’s structured and finishes long. Delicious. Drink 2023-2030.
