2022 Neudorf Rosie’s Block Moutere Chardonnay
Wild yeast fermented in French oak (15% new) with 10 months maturation of full lees followed by a further 2 months aging in stainless steel tanks on fine lees.
Brilliant pale straw colour with gleaming green tinged edges and a watery hue. Elevated nectarine, pear and dried honey scents fill the nostrils trailed by notions of biscuity oak, grapefruit, faint nougat and gun flint. Texturally fleshy and well rounded, the mid weighted palate serves up concentrated pear, white peach and nectarine fruits over a gentle biscuity oak, citrusy nougat and gun flint infused back drop. Beautiful fresh acidity with a long, refined, cream tinged finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 13.5%
Other Reviews….
The 2022 chardonnay wines show off a bit of extra bandwidth it seems. Lots on. Always stellar chardonnay from Neudorf.
This has a softness and easy appeal. Sweet citrus meets red apple joins nougat, ginger lemon honey tea and cashew. Lots of fragrance, good, juicy and slick texture with a pleasing, talc-like mineral finish and great extension of flavour. Sits softly in the palate, a richer, but not too rich feel to the wine, with generosity of everything a byword in this description. It feels super pleasing and full of character. Nice one. Drink 2023-2029.

Mike Bennie – The Wine Front
Apple crumble, pears, lemon meringue, white pepper and some white rosemary on the nose. It’s medium- to full-bodied, sleek and focused, with lively acidity and a deliciously fleshy, long finish. From organically grown grapes. Vegan. Sustainable. Drink now or hold. Screw cap.
