2022 Oakridge Hazeldene Chardonnay
Matured in 500 litre French oak barrels on lees for a period of 10 months. Brilliant pale straw colour with a distinctive greenish tinge around the outskirts and a watery hue. Intense lemon and grapefruit scents are intermeshed with biscuity oak, roasted almond and gun flint notes. Nectarine, green apple and pear flavours meld into a biscuity oak, flinty grapefruit, roasted almond and gun flint back drop. Fleshy textured and concentrated it has lively underlying acidity, finishing long and flinty.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

Other Reviews….
From chardonnay planted at the Hazeldene Vineyard at Gladysdale in '13. Whole-bunch pressed straight to puncheons (less than 20% new) followed by a natural-yeast fermentation and time on lees without stirring. A very bright green gold. Savoury and nuanced with aromas of white peach, confit lemon and hazelnuts. Lovely mid-palate intensity, drive and structure. Super, even now, but equally this has much more to offer over the next few years. Drink by 2030.
