2022 Pierro Chardonnay
Owner and manager of Pierro Estate, Dr Mike Peterkin, has a viticultural pedigree second to none. Besides making one of Margaret Rivers best Chardonnay’s, Mike also produced the first Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blend in Australia.
Fermented in French barriques, the wine goes through a full malolactic fermentation which helps achieve superior texture, mouth feel and a more refined, persistent flavour. Lees are stirred fortnightly by hand in barrel over a period of 12 months.
Brilliant pale straw colour with a distinct glimmer of green around the edges and a watery hue. Lifted white peach and nectarine aromas are complexed by biscuity oak, citrus, traces of crème brulee and gun flint. Rich and fleshy textured the beautifully shaped palate features concentrated white peach, nectarine and citrus fruits over elements of dried honey, roasted almonds, biscuity nougat characters, traces of crème brulee and infusions of gun flint. Superb volume combines with immense power to form a fresh and focused yet cream tinged conclusion that’s very long and sophisticated.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.

Other Reviews…..
Wonderful to lift such a lightweight bottle!
Peach, pear and fennel, spiced butter cashews, flinty top note, a little saline with it. Lively acidity and chalky dusty texture, creamy with some tropical accents, and a lime-laced finish of excellent length. Such regal carriage and delivery of bold Chardonnay flavour. Drink 2024-2030+
