2022 Umani Ronchi Casal di Serra Verdicchio Classico Superiore
Verdicchio is one of the most widely planted white grape varieties in the Marche region of central Italy. First produced in 1983 this is Umani Ronchi’s flagship Verdicchio. Grapes are selected from four vineyards ranging from 8 to 30 years old, with fermentation taking place in stainless steel tanks and the wine given approximately 5 months lees contact to build its textural attributes.
Brilliant pale straw colour with a subtle glimmer of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. Pear, tropical fruit and lime aromas are offered up alongside Mediterranean herb and wet stone notes. Mouth filling pear, tropical fruit and lime flavours are cast across the palate. Stony mineral underbelly with some fresh herb accents also chiming in. Crisp acidity with the dry, fruity and saline tinged finish showing ample length.
Drink over the next year.

Other Reviews…..
This Verdicchio is a flower shop in a bottle with elegant aromas of mixed flowers, green herbs, lemon oil and white gravel. A wine that is as much of a feeling as it is tasty, with an amazing texture that hugs the palate with a pleasant pithy bitterness and sea-salty finish. Drink now–2035.
