2022 Yering Station Chardonnay
Matured in a combination of new and seasoned French oak for a period 10 months with lees stirring.
Brilliant pale straw to straw colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. Lifted peach, nectarine and dried honey aromas intermingle with biscuity oak, nougat and spice. The mid weighted palate is well endowed with fleshy ripe peach and nectarine fruits which overlay a dried honey, biscuity oak, nougat and spicy cashew back drop. Gently creamy in its mouth feel it finishes with ample length and complexity.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 13%
Other Reviews….
Barrel fermented and matured in 500L French puncheons (20% new) for 10 months. No mlf. A touch more concentrated than the 2021, this has scents of white nectarines, yellow apples and candied ginger. Vibrant and fresh on the palate, this youthful wine finishes saline and with good persistence. Drink by 2028.
