2023 Coates The Chardonnay

Leaning towards a more modernist Burgundy in style, Coates The Chardonnay is barrel fermented in one third new French oak barriques and aged on lees for 11 months. Brilliant pale straw colour with distinct highlights of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. Drifting through the olfactory senses are attractive white peach, pear and nectarine aromas which are followed by hints of dried honey, citrusy nougat, cashew and delicate spice. Vibrant nectarine, citrus and white peach fruits eloquently pass across the palate with some cashew, dried honey and biscuity nougat characteristics lying underneath. Fresh and refined in its feel it has lively citrus like acidity and a long, elegant conclusion.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
