Sangiovese was pioneered in Australia by Coriole with the first vineyards planted in 1985. It provided a contrasting style to shiraz - the great tradition of McLaren Vale - and has proven to be ideally suited to the warm maritime climate of the region.
Dark red core with black shaded edges and a red to dark red hue. Spicy red currant and red cherry aromas mix with red liquorice, Mediterranean herb and earth notes. Juicy yet savoury the palate features expressive red currant and red cherry fruits over a fresh herb infused back drop of earth and spice. Slightly chalky tannins and bright acidity lead into a conclusion that’s energetic and savoury.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 14.3%

Other Reviews…..
Always a very nice wine, and great value too.
Cherry, almond, aniseed, a smattering of dried herbs, maybe lavender. It’s medium-bodied, kind of juicy, kind of savoury, there’s some strawberry in with cherry, some grainy grip to tannin, slightly ferrous, gently bitter with amaro, and the finish is fresh and pretty long. It’s maybe a little more crunchy and herbal than some vintages, and yet, it still lays on the charm. Nice. I do like a wine that doesn’t try too hard to be anything other than a great drink. Drink 2024-2032.

Bright, cherry red and vivid in the glass. Pretty aromas of sour cherry, redcurrant, dried flowers, briar, wet earth and spice. Lively, crunchy and red and blue fruit driven. There’s some textured and chalky tannins delivering shape and mouth-feel and the acidity has plenty of ping and zip. This has real purity and varietal typicity and importantly, real drinkability.
