2023 Denton Shed Chardonnay
Fresh and bright with citrus, tropical notes, subtle creaminess, and crisp acidity.
Established in 1996 by John and Simon Denton, Denton’s "View Hill" vineyard in Yarra Glen is set on granitic sandy soil with a north-facing aspect. In 2024, John Denton retired, selling the estate to Scott Bishop, who has fully immersed himself in its daily operations. Winemaker Kirilly Gordon, with experience in Victoria, France, and Italy, has led production since 2022, while vineyard manager Julian Parrott, with over five years on-site, ensures meticulous care of the vines.
The Shed range prioritizes perfume, texture, and drinkability, with an emphasis on lightness and delicacy. Bottled early to retain freshness, these wines are approachable and ready to enjoy upon release. ourced from the lower northeastern slope of Denton View Hill, this Chardonnay, primarily P58 clone with touches of Gin Gin and Mendoza, was wild-fermented, underwent full malolactic fermentation, and aged on lees in stainless steel for 11 months. Fresh and bright, it offers citrus and tropical notes, subtle creaminess, and crisp acidity—an easy-drinking yet poised Chardonnay.

Other Reviews....
Whole-bunch pressed and fermented with 100% mlf in both stainless steel and older French oak. Bottled without fining or filtration. A deepish, bright green gold. Aromas of fully ripe orchard fruits, a little fresh guava even and some lemon verbena. Luscious, in a good way, on the palate, backed up by a fine vein of acidity. A gentle pithiness on the finish. Drink 2024 - 2027.
