2023 Forest Hill Vineyard Chardonnay
Sourced from three sites on the Forest Hill Vineyard. Block 8 and Block 9 planted in 1985 and Highbury Fields with maturation taking place in French oak barriques, hogsheads and puncheons (25% new).
Brilliant pale straw colour with highlights of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. Aromas of nectarine and pear are intertwined with citrus and faint notes of dried honey, biscuit and gun flint. Fleshy nectarine and citrus fruits overlay a delicate dried honey, biscuity oak and gun flint back drop. Lively acidity lends a brisk feel to the refined mid length conclusion.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 13%
Other Reviews…..
Ultra-pleasing chardonnay here. Even, flowing richness metered by bright acidity, all the hallmark stone fruits, apple, woody spices, nougat, vanilla going on. Supple but with a faint chalkiness, great extension of flavour, a general sense of vibrancy and drinkability. It feels dictionary definition but also a plus up on that, more of everything, and balanced beautifully. What a delight. Class above its pay grade. Drink by 2030.
