2023 Heirloom Vineyards Alcala Grenache
Rich, intense and fleshy yet energetic with a robust structure.
Deep dark red heart with black shaded edges and a bright red to dark red hue. Fragrant raspberry and red liquorice aromas infused with crushed rock and vanillin spice notes are trailed by some peppered clove. Rich, intense and fleshy yet energetic, the palate is bursting with juicy red to dark raspberry, cherry and red liquorice fruits. Flashes of clove, scorched earth, vanillin spice and pepper peek through the back half. Outstanding drive and power with a robust yet polished tannin structure and lively acidity lending freshness. Concludes long, succulent and vivid.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 14.5%
Other Reviews…..
There’s a density of fruit here, leavened with the verve of the season. Red and black cherries, raspberry compote, redcurrant jelly, red licorice, white pepper and a dusty, earthy quality. There’s a firm drive to the palate apace with the fruit weight, cinching without constricting, the finish both vibrant and savoury. Drink by 2030.
