2023 Home Hill Estate Pinot Noir
Home Hill is one of your classic Australian vineyard retreats that functions as both a serious winery and a charming getaway with restaurant included. The focus here is primarily on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sylvaner and Sparkling wine, but their track record really shines with Pinot. Over recent years they have clearly established themselves as one of Tasmania’s best and most consistent producers of the varietal, culminating in their 2014 Home Hill Reserve Pinot Noir taking out the Jimmy Watson Trophy.
Incorporates 2% whole bunch fruit with maturation taking place in 20% new French oak for a period of 9 months. Dark red core with black toned edges and a vibrant red purple tinged hue. Intense dark cherry, strawberry and anise aromas flood the nostrils followed by some fresh herb, forest floor, dried meat and spicy cedar notes. Delicious red to dark cherry, strawberry and more subtle anise flavours are delivered with ample richness and power. Supple yet fresh flow across the palate with infusions of fresh herbs, spicy cedar and forest floor lending complexity. Polished yet slightly grainy tannins provide structure.
