2023 Kalleske Clarry’s GSM
A certified organic and biodynamic blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro. The oldest Grenache block dates back to the 1940’s with remaining vines varying in age up to fifty years old. In order to preserve the fresh fruit flavours ageing takes place only in very old oak hogsheads for a period of 8 months.
Dense inky black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Showing excellent intensity the nose is filled with an array of peppered dark raspberry, dark cherry, liquorice, dried herb and earthy graphite like notes. Rich, succulent dark to black raspberry, liquorice and black cherry fruits swamp the palate with scorched earth and peppered dried herb extracts lying underneath. Opulently textured yet retaining good freshness it possesses velvety tannins and finishes long, plump and juicy.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 14%
Other Reviews....
Clarry's has always represented great value and plenty of savoury, spicy, dark-fruited drinking for the price. Nothing's changed with the 2023 model and it ticks all the boxes once again. Ripe plums and blackberry with hints of baking spices, crushed stone, purple flowers, chocolate and earth with tight, powdery tannins and a medium-length finish. Such a solid bistro-style wine. Drink by 2034.
