2023 La Petite Eglise Pre-Arrival Offer
Other Reviews....
As usual, the 2023 La Petite Eglise is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc that checks in at 14.4% alcohol. Wafting from the glass with aromas of plums and cherries mingled with notes of dark chocolate and truffle, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and succulent, with a rich core of fruit, sweet tannins and good depth at the core, concluding with a broad, oak-inflected finish.

The 2023 La Petite Eglise is a serious, deep wine. It is one of the few second wines in Bordeaux that needs some time in bottle to be at its best. Dark-toned fruit, graphite, leather, menthol, spice and incense lend this large-scaled Pomerol a ton of distinction. A dollop of Franc (10%) adds tension and vibrancy. Drink 2028-2043.

A firm and racy red with blackberry, black olive, and orange peel. Just a hint of salt. Medium to full body. Tight center-palate with lovely tannins and a savory finish. Fresh and balanced at the end. Crunchy. Open. 90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc.

The second wine of this fabulous Pomerol château, the 2023 Château L'Eglise Clinet La Petite Eglise is based on 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, harvested from the 9th to the 14th of September, that is resting in 82% new French oak. Coming from the same parcels every year, it has plenty of classic Pomerol darker, almost blue fruits as well as damp herbs, tobacco, and spicy nuances. Balanced and medium-bodied, with a supple, layered mouthfeel, it’s a beautiful second wine.

Flowers, boysenberries, black cherries, cocoa, and plums are unmistakable in the nose. The palate is creamy, lifted, sweet, and fresh, with ripe, black cherries, freshness, dark chocolate, and the aftertaste aromas of spring flowers. Enjoy this while waiting for the Grand Vin to develop. The wine blends 90% Merlot with 10% Cabernet Franc. 14.4% ABV. Drink from 2027-2042.
