2023 Mermerus Pinot Noir
Light in body yet intensely flavoured and powerful with a long moreish finish.
Established in 1996 by Paul and Jennifer Champion the Mermerus Pinot Noir is produced from a single vineyard in the Geelong sub region of Bellarine Peninsula. The fruit was hand picked from low yielding vines (1.8 tonnes per acre), open fermented, basket pressed and matured in French oak barriques (20% new) for 12 months.
Red to dark red colour with black toned edges and a light red hue. Showing gorgeous aromatics, perfumed violet, red cherry and strawberry scents intermix with forest floor, brambly cedar, dried herb and spice notes. Light in body yet intensely flavoured and powerful, the palate features delicious red to dark cherry, strawberry, rhubarb and subtle anise characters within a supple texture and polished tannin structure. Dried herb, brambly cedar, forest floor and spice elements lend complexity through the long moreish finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
