2023 Pacha Mama Chardonnay
Brilliant pale straw colour with a distinctive greenish tone to the edges and a watery hue. Aromas of white peach and nectarine are to the fore with hints of honeysuckle, bees wax and spice also evident. Fleshy textured, the mid weighted palate features white peach and nectarine fruits over traces of honeysuckle, cinnamon, cashew and spice. Nicely shaped finish with some lingering cashew elements to it.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
Alc. 12.5%
Other Reviews….
A very smart Yarra Valley Chardonnay here, whole bunch pressing followed by 12 hours settling. A wild ferment in puncheons was followed by six weeks lees stirring and then a period of maturation in French oak, including a percentage new. Deep yellow hue, the nose gives us notes of cashews, florals, citrus and peaches. The oak is very well integrated here, with a touch still evident, but it is a process. Stonefruit notes to the fore, this is fresh and seamless with good energy and an appealing creamy texture. The intensity is maintained for the full length. Delicious now and over the next four years. Drink 2024-2028.

From a single vineyard in Gruyere. Whole-bunch pressed and barrel fermented in 15% new puncheons. Callie Jemmeson has a good feel for making chardonnay, and it shows on the complex bouquet of white peach, lemon zest, grilled hazelnuts and a soupçon of sea spray. It's mouth-filling and balanced, finishing with a touch of grip on the nicely structured and long finale. Drink by 2029.
