2023 Rob Hall Chardonnay
Growing up in Healesville, a young Rob Hall did some summer work in the vineyards during the early to mid nineties before taking up full time work at Yarra Ridge then Punt Road. From 2002 to 2011 he was the winemaker at Mount Mary, it wasn’t until 2014 that he took the leap and began his own operation. The 2023 Chardonnay is a blend of two vineyards, Harriet's Vineyard in Healesville, and the Full Moon Vineyard in Gladysdale.
Brilliant pale straw colour with a greenish tint to the edges and a watery hue. Aromas of white peach and nectarine rise from the glass followed by hints of dried honey, crème brulee and citrusy nougat notes. Light to medium weight with a faintly creamy yet fresh feel, the palate features nectarine and citrus fruit over a delicate lemony nougat and flinty mineral back drop. Vibrant acidity finishing energetic and elegant. Should build nicely with some bottle age.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
