2023 Soumah Hexham Vineyard Syrah

Fragrant with juicy red to blue fruits that carry a silken feel through to the long finish that’s both savoury and fresh.

Midnight black heart with a dark red black tinged hue. Fragrant dark plum, liquorice and dried herb scents sail through the nostrils followed by some smoked meat and peppered earth notes. Juicy plum, red liquorice and ripe blueberry fruits are cast across the palate with a silken feel. Dried herb, smoked meat, fennel and peppered earth elements lend further nuance. Polished, seamlessly integrated tannins with the long savoury finish showing plenty of underlying freshness. An excellent cool climate Syrah.

Fermented with a mix of whole bunches and whole berries, matured in 25% new 500L puncheons. A medium bright crimson purple. Fragrant aromas of dark cherries, potpourri, star anise and cracked pepper. An elegant and energetic wine, the tannins are persistent and discreet and by the time this is released in September, it should just be starting to hit its straps. Drink by 2030.
