2023 Soumah Single Vineyard U. Ngumby Pinot Noir

Review Summary: Refined and brambly with red fruits carrying a supple feel through to a savoury finish.

The Detailed review: Dark red core with black toned edges and a red hue. Wonderfully perfumed nose with scents of violet, red to dark cherry and rhubarb followed by some brambly dried herb, forest floor and spicy cedar notes. Refined red cherry, strawberry and rhubarb flavours are cast across the palate with a supple feel. Notions of brambly cedar, dried herbs and spice the undercard. Fine grained, polished tannins with a savoury medium length conclusion.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

From the Upper Ngumby Vineyard in Yarra Glen; 25% new wood. A lively crimson. Bright aromas of red stone fruits and redcurrants complemented by a little pepper and some rose petal. Elegant and refined on the palate, with silky, fine-grained and balanced tannins rounding out a wine that can be enjoyed now but that will also reward another four to six years in the cellar. Drink by 2029.
