2023 Tar & Roses Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir

Tar & Roses began life as a venture between the dynamic winemaking duo of Don Lewis and Narelle King. Following the passing of industry legend Don, Narelle has now taken the reigns and has sourced fruit from the Mornington Peninsula to produce this excellent Pinot. Cropped at 2 tonnes per acre with 10% whole bunch fruit included in ferment, maturation took place in French oak hogsheads of which 20% were new for a period of 11 months.
Translucent bright red colour with black shaded edges and a light red hue. Fragrant red cherry, strawberry, violet and subtle rhubarb scents blossom out of the glass. Dried herb, forest floor and bramble notes ensue. Delicious red cherry and winter strawberry fruits meld into a rhubarb, brambly cedar, dried herb and spice back drop. Supple yet fresh in its feel it has a polished tannin structure finishing long and elegant.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
