Rich, voluptuously textured Barossa Shiraz with a long, firm conclusion.

A blend of Barossa Valley (76%) and Eden Valley (24%) fruit, the Barossa Valley contributes plushness and concentration whilst the Eden Valley component brings elegance and structure to the blend. The average age of vines is 50 years old and maturation takes place in a mixture of new (25%) and seasoned French oak for a period of 18 months.
Dense inky black heart with a very deep dark red black hue. Wafting through the nostrils are heady scents of dark plum, blackberry and liquorice followed by vanillin oak, earthy dark chocolate and subtle spicy leather notes. Rich, voluptuously textured and thick across the full bodied palate, opulent dark plum, liquorice and lush black cherry fruits are delivered with Torbreck’s trademark concentration and power. Sturdy yet velvet like tannins provide a solid framework with vanillin oak, scorched earth, dark chocolate and spicy fennel elements lurking underneath. Concludes long and firm yet sumptuous.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.

Other Reviews.....
The 2023 The Struie is a blend from Eden and Barossa, melding the higher altitude austerity and structure of Eden with the density and muscle of the Barossa. I like this wine, because if you sit with it for long enough, you can clearly see the component parts side by side. The whole makes the understanding of the parts. You get the blueberry, black cherry, licorice, crushed quartz, aniseed and dark chocolate of Eden married to the bloody, earthy, gritty muscle of Barossa. Awesome. 15% alcohol, sealed under natural cork and wax. Drink 2025-2038.
