2023 Vasse Felix Filius Sauvignon Blanc Semillon

A blend of 71% Sauvignon Blanc and 29% Semillon partially matured in French oak. Brilliant pale straw colour with subtle flashes of green around the edges and a watery hue. Aromas of citrus and green apple have a herbaceous grassy overlay with some delicate lime and flinty mineral notes also evident. Racy citrus, herbaceous gooseberry and lime flavours meld into a grassy asparagus back drop with some subtle pencil shaving characters also present. Finishes dry and crisp with a refreshingly savoury aftertaste.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.

What’s great about this is it’s delicious to drink, and more than a glass, which is my usual cut-off point for this style. Everything in balance and nothing overt expect hints of lemon and preserved lemon, feijoa and crunchy star fruit. There’s mouth-watering acidity, a layer of texture with a light phenolic pull to the finish.
