Since it’s establishment in 2009, winemaker John Hughes has in a very short period of time established RieslingFreak as one of the country's preeminent producers of the variety. Wine critic Mike Bennie describing it as ‘the definitive Riesling project in Australia.’
Brilliant water like core with a subtle tinge of green around the outskirts. Leaping from the glass with great intensity are lime and citrus aromas which are trailed by some green apple, hints of orange rind, talc and chalky mineral notes. Concentrated lime, lemon and Granny Smith apple fruits are pierced by mouth wateringly crisp acidity which imparts a tight, zesty feel across the palate. Chalky talc, wet steel and mineral characters lie underneath. The long steely structured finish delivered with laser like precision and plenty of zing.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 11.5%

Other Reviews….
Such a beautiful, concentrated yet composed wine from John's mum and dad's vineyard at White Hutt, 5.8km north of the Clare township. So perfumed and essential, with crunchy lime, green apple and grapefruit alongside high tones of wildflowers, Christmas lily, jasmine, talc, mineral salts, peach skin and stone. Concentrated yet super-tight on the palate with a tubular core of focused lime and citrus fruits, a beautifully fine structure and a tangy, energetic line with velocity to burn. A superb, pristine wine. Drink by 2038.
