Something of a landmark Australian release, this is the first whiskey in the world to be made with hand-harvested weeping grass. Previously 78 Degrees had experimented with Wattleseed, Kangaroo Grass, Spinifex and Salt Bush Seed to name a few, however nothing came close to what Weeping Grass offered. Cultivated by Indigenous Australians for tens of thousands of years, the variety produces a plump grain similar to rice but when it's distilled, it bestows a beautiful cereal, brown rice-like character with hints of apricot kernel & toasted chocolate. You could think of it as Australia's equivalent to rye. Previously awarded ‘Best Australian Grain’ in 2019 & ‘Best Australian Grain - 12 Years & Under’ at the 2020 World Whiskies Awards, 2021 added a Double Gold at the San Fran World Spirits Competition.

Notes from the producers... NOSE: Intense cereal characteristics & apricot kernel from the Weeping Grass mingle with caramel, toffee & toasted malt from the traditional grain. TASTE: Rich and creamy with beautifully balanced french oak influence. Fresh red berry character. Apricot kernel, stone fruit and spice give way to earthy almost ginger character. FINISH: Beautiful long finish, including notes of dried apricots and kitchen spice.
