7K Distillery Sherry Cherry Single Malt Australian Whisky (500ml)

Smelling and tasting a bit like a sherried Speysider and showing good concentration, this is another pretty faultless delivery from 7K. The feature here isn't complexity, rather it's about the way the spirit effortlessly glides through the mouth. This one has a kick of pepper at the finish, reigning in some of the earlier malty sweetness. Matured in a sherry and cherry stout cask, the outturn was just 140 bottles. 51.5% Alc./Vol. Tasted from a 20ml sample.

Notes from the producers... Nose: Apples & brandy soaked Christmas cake, with a background of caramelised peaches. Palate: Thick on the tongue, with dark plums and cherries, moving to a big toasted oak note laced with allspice and clove. More time in the glass opens up savoury notes. Finish: medium length finish, playing with spicy & sweet style.
