Appleton Estate White Rum (750ml)
Apart from a range of fabulous gold and dark rums, Appleton also offer an affordable white version composed of 1-4 year old molasses based distillates. Spirits from both pot and column still are used, with the final blend charcoal filtered for a clear appearance. It's described as "light and elegant, but with an almost creamy mouthfeel" by diffordsguide.com. 40% Alc./Vol.
Other reviews... Caribbean fruit such as pineapple and papaya combine with powdered sugar to give a fresh, clean nose. In the mouth there is a fair amount of weight and a touch of vanilla leading to a great, dry finish. Excellent, Highly Recommended. 91 points - 2016 Ultimate Spirits Challenge
...A decent rum for the money, especially for the price/class. Most of the rum under this price will make you feel like you went blind sometime during the night – or wished you had - this is not one of them. One of the better economy white rums. Honest, straightforward, and better than Bacardi, for less money. A solid choice for a white rum. - spiritsreview.com
"This rum is fairly alcoholic tasting and a bit hot, with some chocolatey, coffee and fruity (mostly banana and coconut) flavors trying to punch their way to the surface. Herbal and tart notes of sage, rosemary and lime zest come through with syrupy sugar flavors. It's not meant to be a neat sipper anyway, but it could certainly hold its own in a mixed cocktail or rum and Coke." 78 points - distiller.com
