Archie Rose Stringybark Smoked Single Malt Australian Whisky (700ml)
Following the release of a Red Gum Smoked Single Malt in early 2022 comes this, the eleventh in the 'Trials & Exceptions' series. Employing a different species for the same purpose, as well as sourcing all seven base malts from within NSW, it fulfills an ambition to replace Scottish peated malt with Australian wood-smoked malt. This one's smoked with locally sourced Stringybark and is composed of amber malt, local chocolate malt, light crystal malt and aromatic roasted malt. Maturation took place in an Australian Apera cask filled in November 2019. Naturally, drinkability has been kept at the forefront over the novelty for the sake of it. You can expect heady notes reminiscent of campfire smoke, smoked meats, marzipan, amaretto and scotch finger biscuits. With only 2,450 bottles in existence, it joins a very small number of Australian whiskies to employ natives in the production process. 54% Alc./Vol.
