Bakery Hill Cask 14 Cask Strength Peated Single Malt Whisky (500ml)

Bakery Hill's Single Malts, despite their youth, were very promising initial efforts when the brand was first released several years ago. We predicted as the spirits spent longer in barrel, one could anticipate some very interesting results. Distiller, David Baker's determination is clearly paying off with this latest release, 'Cask 14' receiving wonderful praise from the whisky world.

Whisky writer, Jim Murray ranked Bakery Hill Best Small Distillery Whisky of the Year in his Whisky Bible 2005. No doubt it was Cask 14 that influenced this choice: 'Bakery Hill Peated Malt Cask Strength cask No. 14, bott t 04 (aged 4 years), kippery aroma with a dash of lemon on the side; a real mouthful of subtle, pulsating peats which have to battle through the sweet malt; young but has such extraordinary depth and charisma; goes into overdrive, fabulously long with layer upon layer of encrusted peat that clings limpet-like to the roof of the mouth; show this to anyone and tell them it not an Islay: they will never believe you. The phenol levels here are quite stunning, but so too is the excellence of distillation. I found this cask in Bakery Hill's warehouse last year and swooned, even queried its origins - so distillery Dave Baker bottled it!
