The first edition of the small batch 'Malting Season' is comprised of 23 barrels, all distilled on 2nd November 2012, yielding 6672 bottles in total. Celebrating traditional methods dating back to the earliest days of the distillery, it's the first expression in a century to be produced entirely using barley malted from Benriach's own historic floor maltings. Two-cask matured in bourbon and virgin oak barrels to accent a creamy texture, it boasts classic Speyside aromas and flavours conjuring tea biscuits, malted milk, orange spice cake and red apples in a medium to full bodied delivery that slowly expands in the mouth. Malt-focussed (and none the worse for that), the palate ends on a vanillan-oak note, with wood spices, sponge cake and supple tannins. 48.7% Alc./Vol.

Notes from the producers... aromas of barley sugar, almond fudge and poached orchard apple with smooth, rounded flavours of vanilla and honeyed pear, with a lasting nuttiness of slowly kilned malt.
