Bloom Gin (700ml)
A floral, feminine, New World style Gin, that challenges traditional British convention.
Produced by Britain’s second largest Gin distillery in G & J Greenall, acting as both contract distiller and producer for the likes of Bombay Sapphire and Bulldog Gin. Their household brands include: Greenall’s, Berkley Square and Bloom.
With a series of botanicals verging obscurity, Bloom Gin incorporates honeysuckle, pomelo, coriander, chamomile and a citrus fruit native to South East Asia, nicknamed Chinese Grapefruit. In addition, they add traditional "London Dry" botanicals including juniper, angelica, and cubeb berries.
Awarded a Platinum Medal at the World Spirits Competition in 2010.
Tasting note: Crystal clear. Moderate aromatics tease out a curious amalgam of chamomile tea, dilute grapefruit juice and juniper, gaining a point intensity-wise in the second pass as the grapefruit notes are emphasised along with hints of cinnamon. A creamy entry leads into a dryish, medium bodied profile where juniper takes back seat over elderflower-like flavours to finish mildy peppery, brisk, clean and soft. Intriguing contemporary-styled gin. 40% Alc./Vol.
...Clear. Mild aromas of raisin pepper bread, juniper blossom, anise, and cucumber with a glycerous, dryish medium-to-full body and delicate honey cream, peppercorn, mineral, and lemongrass accented finish. A nicely refined and understated gin for martinis.
