Famous as the name behind the world's peatiest whiskies, Bruichladdich's 'Octomore' continues its annual bottlings. Now on to the 11th release which will include four new expressions, 11.1 was distilled in the winter of 2014 from Scottish grown Concerto and Propino barley. Peated to 139.6 ppm, at just five years old, it's another youthful Octomore, determined to defy convention, matured entirely on Islay in ex Bourbon casks from Jim Beam, Heaven Hill and Jack Daniels. Non chill filtered. 59.4% Alc./Vol. Very limited stocks.
Other reviews... Compared to previous bottlings of Octomore, 11.1 comes across as entirely approachable and really understated... Delightful stuff that any Islay fan should try.- drinkhacker.com
The nose has a good balance of peat smoke and garden soil, heather, honey, and hints of malt and brine in the background. The taste is predictably smoky with grilled citrus fruits, white pepper, a hint of dried flowers, brine, and a touch of anise that comes out late. The finish is long and smoky with anise, heather, and a hint of brine.

(The 'Dialogos' sub title reflects Bruichladdich's aim to start a dialogue about terroir, wood influence and barley in an effort to encourage transparency: every tiny detail about these whiskies is made available on their website).
