Cadenheads Glen Elgin Glenlivet 23 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Another Diageo distillery, usually only released as a standard issue 12 year old. This unusually old independent edition is all bourbon cask matured. Cadenhead's notes say, "Chocolate, but less intense. Cinnamon stick, strawberry yoghurt and poached pears." 630 bottles produced.

Tasting note: [tasted from a 40ml sample] Deep brass-gold. The nose is almost a non-event slowly yielding malt and cream tea biscuit aromas with a touch of ginger snaps. Middle-weighted, pedestrian Speyside profile repeats the aromas with pleasant vanilla malt and a creamy conclusion. Dryish and moderately spirity to finish. 46% Alc./Vol.
