Cedar Ridge Port Cask Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey (700ml)

This is the flagship for Cedar Ridge. Following in the footsteps of Angel's Envy, it's first aged in new American oak, then finished in Estate Port wine casks for added complexity. It boasts the distinctive colour and flavour of dried cherries and stone fruits, while the familiar vanilla and spice take a supporting role. This seasonal bourbon is released annually in February. Produced from a mash bill of 74% corn, 12% malted barley and 14% rye.

Cedar Ridge Distillery was founded in 2005 as the first licensed distillery in Iowa since Prohibition. They initially produced wine and a number of other spirits before dabbling in whiskey. Their bourbon debuted in 2010, with a label paying homage to Iowa as the largest corn producing state in the Union. With its cold winters, hot summers, and abundance of corn, the venture clearly has all of the ingredients necessary to fine tune a memorable small batch bourbon from its rickhouses. It will be interesting taste this over time as they’re able to increase the average age of the bourbon.
