Chandon Etoile
Etoile is Chandon’s master blend of eight outstanding reserve wines. A buoyant mousse shows good hold over a pale straw, gold tinged base that has a steady stream of nibble bubbles flowing through it. Greeting the nostrils are aromatics of pear, baked bread and oily toast like scents followed by some roasted almond and yeast lees notes. Mouth filling pear, baked bread, citrus and yeast lees flavours are sculptured by vivid acidity with some roasted almond and ginger characters resonating through the back half. Slightly oily yet vibrant texture. Finishes very dry and tense with a long chalk tinged aftertaste.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 12.5%
Other Reviews....
A true multi-vintage blend of eight years of Chandon’s Vintage Brut reserve wines held in barrel dating back to 2005. You’d think it might be too heavy and complex – but in fact it has exceptional balance, poise and length, with flavours spanning white peach to croissant, leading to a lingering fresh finish.
