Chorlton Whisky Orkney 22 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

A delicacy to the aromas, possibly down to the extra age - and an unusual age statement it is - with no sherry and very little peat to get in the way of the light, honey-drizzled cereals. In the mouth, elegant, delicately sweet and only very faintly smoked, then succulent, with a touch of something like nectarine through the buttery finish. Makes for a curious variation on the typical Highland Park profile. Think old Jura? 311 bottles from a single hogshead. 53.4% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Notes from the bottlers... Nose: Uncooked butter pastry and sweetened lap sang sou chong tea. Baked apple pie and distant peat. Palate: Remarkably gentle on the palate at first, oily and chewy spirit gives way to a beautifully integrated peat profile that Highland Park does incredibly well. Classic, solid Highland Park that is nuanced and balanced.
