Cut Hill Distillery Private Barrel Series Mead Cask Australian Malt Whisky (700ml)
Producing wine from honey was first introduced to Australia by Ken Maxell of Maxwell Wines in the 1960s. His devotion to the ancient craft created a benchmark for modern mead-making around the world. The distinctive barrels are on show here with tangible orange spice cake, fresh cinnamon and positively meady moments on the palate. A herb infused honey finish makes for a deliciously different and unique dessert expression - also the most flavoursome of Cut Hill's releases. This distillery will be at its best bottling nearer to 50%.
Notes from the producers... A hive of flavours from the start; orange blossom nougat, cinnamon donuts and buttered green walnuts yield to a palate swarming with candied pistachio, spiced caramel, and leather-wood honey. Playful and long on the finish with lingering depth and drive of flavours, a truly singular expression fit for a queen. It would be a shame to dilute a dram of such character with anything but the buzz of good conversation.
