Dewar's 18 Year Old The Vintage Blended Scotch Whisky (750ml)
Elsewhere pay $130+ for 700ml bottling.
Dewar’s, for one reason or another has become extremely popular amongst American whisky imbibers. Perhaps it is their preference for lighter tasting beers that extends into their tastes for Scotch? This new 18 Year Old release from the makers of one of the best-selling scotch in the world adds to Dewar’s already impressive portfolio of blended whiskies. Key malts include Aberfeldy, Macduff, Royal Brackla, Craigellachie and Aultmore. Note that this is a 750ml bottle as opposed to the 700ml format commonly found in Australia, usually selling for around the $130 mark. Comes in gift box presentation as pictured.
Other reviews... sublime grain at work here. That is the key to the blend. Finding one that can both absorb and reflect the malt at work... and this it does here almost to perfection.. this is how an 18-year-old blend should be: complex, noble and both keeping you on the edge of your seat as you wonder next what will happen, and falling back into it's furthest recesses so you can drift away on its beauty... A blend that upholds the very finest traditions of the great Dewar's name. 40% Alc./Vol. 96.5 points - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2021
...Vanilla laced with spice, fondant icing, grapefruit peel, and lime zest leave the vanilla and floral notes lower down the pecking order. In the mouth, grapefruit and orange dominate the vanilla, yet the mouthfeel is thinner and the acidity tips toward the taste of bitter orange seeds. A lingering bitter orange finish. 85 points - whiskyadvocate.com, reviewed by: Jonny McCormick (Spring 2018)
