Egly-Ouriet Les Premices Brut Champagne
The Ambonnay based Egly-Ouriet are a reference point for grower producers in Champagne, known for their impeccable vineyard management and fastidious winemaking skills. Les Prémices is the first new cuvée from this Domaine for over twenty years and hails from 3.5 hectares of vines in Trigny (northwest of Reims) in the Massif de Saint Thierry area. Reflecting what is planted in the vineyards, Les Prémices is an equal blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier drawn from mature vines (on average, 40 years old) rooted in clay, sand and sandstone, over chalk bedrock—a soil typical of the Massif de St. Thierry. The main difference between this wine and others in the Egly portfolio is here the wine was fermented and aged exclusively in tank, and spent 36 months on lees and was disgorged with two grams per litre.
Please note: Disgorgement dates can vary. Please contact the store if you would like to check which disgorgement is currently available.

Based on the 2018 vintage and disgorged with only one gram per liter dosage, Egly's NV Brut Les Prémices delivers aromas of sweet orchard fruit, peach, baking spices and fresh bread. Medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, it's a charming, enveloping wine with a sweet core of fruit and a bright, saline finish. Drink 2022 - 2030.

A new wine in the Egly range, the NV Brut Les Prémices is a Chardonnay/Pinot Noir/Meunier blend from Trigny, all 2016 vintage. Bright floral notes and the natural richness of Pinots come together nicely in this entry-level bottling. There is good energy, but naturally not quite the textural breadth of the top wines.

This release of the NV Champagne Les Prémices is based on the 2020 vintage, was bottled in 2021, and disgorged in July 2024. Made from equal parts Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier, it’s fresh and inviting, with a delicately fresh and fruity profile on the nose offering notes of raspberries, attractive red fruit, and a nice bit of extract and sapidity. It has a pleasing, fresh, savory element on the finish, with delicate spice in its fine mousse. A very lovely wine that’s drinking beautifully, it can be enjoyed over the next 5-6 years. Drink 2024-2031.
