Glenglassaugh Peated Virgin Oak Wood Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Finished in virgin American oak casks.

Tasting note: [20ml sample] Virgin oak seems to complement GG’s malt more than most, adding richness without overwhelming the distillery character. This one’s a treat. Beyond the varnishy opening sniffs, there's vanilla, coconut, toasty oak and an almost luscious combination of stone fruit, wood shavings and milk chocolate with a whisper of smoke to finish. The aftertaste is pleasingly astringent, peppery and lively. The peat is in retreat, but the overall effect is absolutely moreish. Non chill filtered. 46% Alc./Vol.

Notes from the producer... Intense notes of candy and fresh spice, as if a sweet shop by the beach, spiced by land and sea. Colour: Antique gold. Nose:Creamy vanilla with toasted oak spice flows over candy store confectionery and crisp freshly peated barley. Palate: Crisp oak and hints of candied ginger, boiled sweets and brittle toffee, all surrounded by the most deliciously sweet peat smoke.
