Notes from the producers... Nose: Toasted marshmallows and notes of leather-bound books open this heavily peated dram, along with notes of lobster pot and tarred rope by the sea, hinting at the distinctive maritime influence. Palate: Sweet peat smoke with notes of honeycomb, gingerbread and mint. A fruity element develops over time with hints of pineapple and banana. Finish: A peppery finish with pimento notes, the peat smoke lingers through the end of this dram.

Glengyle is an independent, family-run distillery based in Campbeltown, the historic whisky capital of the world. The original Glengyle produced whisky between 1872-1925 but in 2004, after 79 non-producing years, it was reinstated by Mitchell’s Glengyle Ltd (owners of Springbank). This secured Campbeltown’s status as a whisky region. The name Kilkerran is derived from the Gaelic, “Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain” which is the name of the original settlement where Saint Kieran had his religious cell and Campbeltown now stands. Glengyle produces a range of malts, all natural in colour, non-chill filtered and characteristic of Campbeltown drams; rich, complex and perfectly balanced. Every stage of production is carried out in Campbeltown. Crosshill Loch, situated on a plateau of Beinn Ghuilean, supplies fresh water to the distillery. Barley is traditionally floor malted at Glengyle's sister distillery, Springbank then transferred the short distance to Glengyle. Becasue the distillery is only in operation for a few months of the year, filling approximately 650 casks annually, supply remains allocated globally.
