“A glorious Grande Champagne Cognac deserving of both the Hennessy and Fillioux signatures…”
'Composing a Cognac is a delicate exercise,' explains Hennessy master blender Yann Fillioux. The key word is blending. Many vintages, many vineyard sites, and most importantly, many tested and combined ratios resulting in the most perfect blend of Cognac, which is the most perfect brandy.
Being Cognac’s oldest producer, Hennessy have learned to capture the fruit as well as the floral charactertistics, resulting in Cognacs of great elegance. Fillioux's family members have been amongst the companies master blenders since 1800. In 1873, Emile Fillioux created a special blend for the private enjoyment of the Hennessy family. Over decades, other private blends were created, inaccessible to the public. After re-examining thier remarkable reserve library of extraordinarily old and diverse Cognac, Hennessy have recreated the formula of the original 1873. Labelled as “Private Reserve”, this limited offerring contains within its blend, a portion of Cognac from the 1870's, along with a heavenly host of other selected vintages. The result is a glorious Grande Champagne Cognac, deserving of both the Hennessy and Fillioux signatures.
A sniff of Hennessy Private Reserve leads with dried orange and roasted almond complexities. 'There is vanilla which is a powerful aphrodisiac,' says New York master sommelier and beverage consultant Steve Olsen, 'along with dried roses and other floral mystique.'

Colour: Rich jarrah with light amber and orange highlights. Nose: The most floral in this line-up it also surprises with complex citrus notes solidly anchored in lightly scented wood. Palate: Citrus flavours confirm the nose and the creamy, soft, textured mouth-feel enables rich ginger and white chocolate notes to register. Thomson is particularly taken with the silky softness of this Cognac’s impact on the tongue; an impossibly long and balanced finish makes this Cognac live on, seemingly forever. Comment: An exquisite taste experience, once tasted, you will never forget it. 40% Alc./Vol.
