Isaac Wolfe Bernheim (1848- 1945) was a Jewish businessman notable for starting the I. W. Harper brand of bourbon distilled at the Bernheim distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. The success of his distillery and distribution business helped to consolidate the Louisville area as a major distilling centre.

A new Bernheim Distillery was erected in 1992, with huge warehouses dominating the complex. The distillery continues to produce a number of whiskeys including the Old Charter range, the Old Fitzgerald's & W.L. Weller's amongst others.

Other reviews... Diageo has “brought I.W. Harper home” after years of absence from the U.S. market with this bottling and a base bottling. The source is “new” Bernheim, but with a different mashbill from the base; this is 86% corn. Nose is warm corn and oak, with some spicy clove and cinnamon notes. Great medium-weight body and balance, palate repeats the nose, oaky-sweet finish; well-integrated whiskey. But my eyes pop at the price.
